Site Metrics Troubleshooting

If the click-through rate or any other metric is going down on your site, then these might be the possible reasons. This section provides some possible issues and troubleshooting suggestions to resolve them.

You can refer to a checklist of items through which you can diagnose any changes that have recently occurred on the site and a list of steps that can help the troubleshoot the issue.

Checklist

  • Were there any major promotion(s) on the site?

  • Was the client running an A/B test?

  • Were there any SEM campaign(s) on the site?

  • Were there any Email Campaigns / Purchase traffic on the site?

Troubleshooting

You can troubleshoot the following types of sectors:

  • Feed

  • Instrumentation

Feed

  • Check if products have been miscategorized.

  • Check if many products are not recommendable.

  • Check if size of the feed is too large. For example, a use case of a marketplace in which there are more than 1.5 million products in the feed.

  • Check when the last feed was sent to RR's FTP.

Instrumentation

  • Check if the product IDs are being passed correctly.

  • Check if the category IDs are not being sent on the pages.

  • Check if the user ID or session ID is being sent as blank.

  • Check if any errors occurred in the instrumentation code.

  • Check if any UI updates are available to the pages.

  • Check if recs are instrumented on the site.
